The Balaud
Class Type: Mystic/Wyrmling
Height: 5’7’’-6’7’’ for females, 5’11’’-7’2’’ for males
Lifespan: 130 year average if kept healthy
Anatomy: This race of Ala mostly resemble wolves, but with long canid faces and laid-back, pointed ears. Their faces have different ranges of scales and patterning, while their lower halves are almost entirely drakine. Scale coverage seems to depend on the individual, and also affects their capability for magic.
The Balaud are large and powerful for a bipedal race with muscular limbs and thick tails. Even a weaker Balaud could overpower most humans. Their feathered feet are raptor-like, with viciously curved dew-claws that can extend out for combat like a spur.
In color, Balaud almost always have more earthy tones for their fur, with brighter, reptilian colors for their scales. Solid colors are common for the race, but stripes, spots, and dappling are neither unheard of nor uncommon.
Abilities: As if physical strength weren’t enough, their colorful, crystalline scales give them a strong capacity for magic, especially telekinesis. A well-trained Balaud could easily lift and hold a man with their abilities, but some shift their training to learn how to read weather or emotions just as easily. These powers make Balaud excellent workers or caregivers, despite their large size and often fearsome appearances.
