The People
The general population of Vaso is a lively group, lovers of art, food, music, and color. They're an open and friendly people to each other for the most part, and more than happy to share what they have if someone else needs it more. However, they're not always the hardest of workers unless provided a more fun motivation for their labor. Skills are greatly appreciated, but those willing to use them are a treasure.
Family units are close, friends even closer. Vasians are incredibly social and wither without a large group of people to be in contact with, both socially and physically. Touch is a large part of their interaction and culture, and it's not uncommon to have family and friends giving each other the same interactions you'd traditionally see given to one's partner. Holding hands, cuddling, greeting and parting kisses are all welcome.

The Races
Islanders: The most common variety of human in Vaso. These people are olive to golden tan in skin tone, often have dark hair that can be either straight or intensely curly, and often have olive green, grey, or brown eyes. Facial features are mostly either straight and lean, or soft and curvy. These are, obviously, more common in the west, along the central islands and in marine cities.
The forest people: Though the jungle is at the center of the country, forest people are one of the harder to find. Their skin is brown in hue with reddish undertones, black or dark brown hair that is either straight and silky or slightly waved, and brown, grey, orange, or, rarely, purple eyes. In feature, they tend to have high, flat cheekbones, slanted eyes, and hooked noses. Most of them are taller and more muscularly built than the other races.
Southerns: These people originate south of Vaso’s jungle band, in the dry plains. Their skin is darker than most, almost black in some, but warm in hue. Their hair type is unique in that they are the only Vasian race to have afro-type hair, often black or dark brown, or sometimes and rarely, a dark brownish-red. Southerns’ eyes are always brown, but can be light enough to be almost yellow in the right light. Not as tall as the forest people, but still have more height and bulk than most of the other races.
Sand Eaters: Are named in a derogatory fashion, though after Vaso was united into a single nation, the slang word was reclaimed into a more vicious title. Sand Eaters are often unseen anywhere but at the southern border, hardly ever leaving their plains and deserts where they tame and train their scorpion-like mounts for the Vasian army. Their skin is similar in tone to the Islanders’, though with a slightly more yellow tint. Their hair can range from brown to an almost blond, if they live closer to the freshwater ocean. Hair is almost always kept short, and is straight when it’s not mussed and in all directions from wearing their protective helmets. Eye colors range from brown to dark grey.
Northerns: Live along the northern border, but commonly migrate to the islands and to the center of the country. These people are pale, and burn easily in the sun without tanning much more than freckles. Their hair is either light brown or over a range of blonds, with very rarely having black hair. Northerns never have green eyes, but they are the only race that can and commonly does have blue. Brown and grey eyes are also common. In features, Northerns are mostly straight and soft, with high but rounded cheekbones and squishier limbs. Northerns are generally the shortest of the races.
