The People
Su-Karians General
Su-Karians are the human population of the country. The prefix 'su' comes from a Karian word for 'familar', in contrast to the Ala-Karian's 'exotic' prefix.
Humans are the minority in Karia, making up only about a third of the population. The number of humans is sharply decreasing, with the gap more noticeable each generation as more Ala-Karians are born naturally or transformed from the human population.
These people are short in stature and more easily gain and keep weight, most likely to deal with their cold environment. They're pale in skin tone, with typically black or brown hair, and brown, amber, or grey eyes.

Ala-Karians General
While Karia is occupied by humans mostly known as Su-Karians, the country of Karia is mostly populated by a diverse race of people given the title ‘Ala’, which just refers to their exotic nature(as compared to the ‘Su’ prefix meaning familiar).
Ala-Karians, despite their often animalistic appearance, are formerly human, transformed to their climates by the land’s deeply embedded rivers of magic. The Ala people also can be born naturally, taking on the species of their mother. For a human to become an Ala-Karian, they must have lived in the area for a number of years, and before reaching puberty when the transformation begins. The particular species they become is affected by climate and habitat, though it is thought that the Su’s personality also comes into play. This transformation can last for a varied length of time, from weeks to up to a year, depending on the amount of changes occuring.
-Rarely, a changing Ala-Karian will also go through a complete change of biological sex, though gender and orientation are often not affected by this change. It is unknown what causes this side effect, but it is possibly affected by the individual’s actual gender or whether or not the individual is intersex.
Su and Ala-Karians can interbreed with no effect on the health of the offspring. A Su mother will have a normal, healthy Su child, just as an Ala mother would have an Ala child. Mixed races simply do not exist, and the father plays no part on the race itself, while other traits such as hair or eye color may still be seen.
