Environment
The South East- Bordered by the ocean and the desert countries of Irrek and Zahwe, the south of Vaso is both hot and dry out of the rainy season. What plant life there is tends to be tall and thorny, or short and twiggy, with the animals that live there just as spined and rough. There is little change in temperature during the seasons, being so close to the equator.
In the spring, or just the rainy season, this part of the world changes dramatically. The dry quickly becomes green with fast growing and flowering plant life, and the animals that drifted toward the forests for the dry season return to breed and raise their young.
The North East- This area is only bordered by the freshwater ocean to the north. Because of its location, it is the perfect area for both agriculture and farming, and it is where Vaso grows most of its finer food. Once, it was a separate country of its own occupied by the people who are now known as 'sand eaters', and still now it is mostly populated by them, and is where they raise and train their scorpion-like mounts for food and military service.
The Central Forest- Fed by the rivers pouring from the freshwater ocean, as well as a river of magic flowing beneath the earth, this area has grown into a massive rainforest populated by unusual, unique creatures only found here. The trees in the deepest parts grow large enough to easily house the forest people within their trunks, a blessing against the heavy rains and storms that make this area one of the more hazardous to travel though. It is also here, however, where Vaso is supplied with most of its lumber and magic resource.
The Islands- Here is where most of Vaso's largest cities lie. The environment is warm, sunny, and mild, with only spring storm season to cause any worry. Winter hardly touches here, other than a slight temperature change and less rain. The seafood is plenty and trade comes easily in this broken up hub for culture and commerce. The animals are just as vivid as in the forest, but are more docile and less likely to be a threat.
Northern Plains- This area is both the center of farmland, and the home of the capital city of Palpel, where the Queen resides. Mostly grassland, there is plenty of game to be had, if you're brave enough to hunt the large herd beasts that make their home in the wilds. The weather here changes from warm days to chilly nights, though there's hardly any snow in the winter this far south. The parts of the plains bordering the forest grow plenty of short, fruiting shrubs that produce a large portion of the locals' diets.
