The Typheus
Class Type: Wyrmling
Height: 5’7” - 5’11” for females, 5’9” - 6’1” for males
Lifespan: 200 years on average
Anatomy: Naturally born Typheus start out as creatures hardly any different from a large lizard, walking on four legs and capable of movement as soon as hatched. At first, they only grow in size, until they reach their species’ age equivalent of around four years old. When they hit this stage, their bodies begin rapidly changing structure to something more saurian, their hips, tails, and shoulders shifting to accommodate a bipedal lifestyle. This is also when their budding horns begin growing out. Once they reach puberty, their shapes change for the final time into their fully bipedal, anthromorph adult forms.
Typically, Typheus are brightly colored with large, dark patches on their heads, backs, and tails. These are not simply spots, but clusters of pores where they can release the liquid explosives they hold in a stomach-like organ. As they are born with the same amount of pores as adults, the patterning of them is more dense in children, and breaks up into finer shapes as they grow. Both the patterns and the fire can be for display, though the main usage is for defense. Any darker pattern on a Typheus’ body can release flames, which can make them difficult to touch when they’re angered or nervous.
Female Typheus retain the breast-like shapes from their previous human selves, though the characteristics have been adapted into calcium sacks useful for egg-laying. Male Typheus, even from birth, have a secondary pattern of thermal pores on their necks and throats that stay with them into adulthood. The purpose of these is entirely for intimidation. The larger and more brilliant a male Typheus can expand his throat’s flames, the stronger and healthier he is.
Abilities: Other than being able to release fire through their thermal pores, Typheus can also ‘projectile vomit’ the substance through their mouths, creating an effect like flame breath. Their habit of being lit on fire has also made them extremely resistant to heat, which is probably for the best.
These, however, are their only supernatural abilities.
